Why We Love Bamboo

<>  It’s incredibly soft – softer than cotton and feels more like silk or cashmere.  It’s breathable and ultra-absorbent, wicking moisture away from your skin.  A cross section of the fiber will look like a "gear" such that there is about three times as much surface area than if the outside were just round.  This provides a mechanism for the plant to absorb about 4X more moisture than cotton and to wick it away from your skin.

<>  It’s protective – bamboo has natural antimicrobial properties, making it both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.  Bamboo clothing, sheets and socks will keep you thermally regulated – it keeps you cool in summer; warm in winter; dry year round and has an SPF rating of 14.

<>  It’s natural – Bamboo is the world’s most sustainable and fastest growing plant.  Grown naturally, it is organic without any pesticides, herbicides or best yet, no irrigation.  It does not require mechanized plowing, furrows or replanting, as it re-roots itself giving 4 to 6 new plants each year.  Bamboo grows up to 70 feet high and up to 4 feet per day.  It also produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.

<>  At last of all – Moso Bamboo, the one that gives us the apparel fiber, grows as it has for centuries, on 7.4 million acres in tropical China and is not food for either the Great or Red Pandas.
